Overview:

Since 1996, The Playwrights Project has produced and cablecast 28 original one-act plays including a behind the scenes documentary.  The productions are the competition winners of PATV’s Annual Playwrights Contest.  This project was created by the late Norman Hall, former PATV Board member and professional TV and stage director.  In 2017, Robert M. Schaufeld, PATV Board President, renamed the competition:

“The Norman Hall Memorial Playwrights Festival”.

Call for Submissions:  March 1 – May 15

Entries MUST be from Long Island Playwrights!

Specifications: The guidelines for submissions are as follows:

  • Original
  • fifteen minutes in length
  • limited to four characters
  • one set
  • no children/animals
  • Limit 2 entries per playwright.  Scripts will not be returned.

Prize is a professional television production of the play.

A panel of professionals will select 3 scripts for the judging process, which will include staged readings to be put online for voting by Long Island residents.  One winning play will be filmed to cablecast locally on PATV, Channel 20 (Optimum) and Channel 37 (Verizon) streamed via patv.org/livestream.  Showcase premiere to be held at the PATV studio facility.
